Iran Reports Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a significant and continuing assault against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is uncertain and the American officials has remained silent.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted wreckage fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
