An informant has disclosed an official investigation that British authorities left behind confidential devices allowing Afghanistan's rulers to track down Afghans who worked with allied troops.

Data Breach Puts Numerous in Danger

The source, identified as Person A, explained that people concerned by the data leak were instructed to move homes and alter their phone numbers to protect themselves from the Taliban.

Members of Parliament are investigating the UK government's management of a massive leak of personal details concerning nearly 19,000 Afghans who had asked to come to Britain to escape militant rule.

Data Disclosure Occurred

An electronic document containing their personal data, comprising names, contact details and occasionally household data, was inadvertently disclosed by an official employed at special operations center in last year.

The incident was discovered months later, when identities of several individuals who had sought to settle in the UK were posted on Facebook.
